How long have you been in business?
The Shires Group has been in business since October 2012; however, all of our psychotherapists are trained at a Masters and/or Doctoral level and have many years of experience.
What is your primary product or service?
Counseling and psychotherapy. The Shires Group uses these two terms interchangeably, based on our client's needs. We believe that counseling can be brief- teaching clients skills to overcome stressful events in their lives and process feelings, whereas psychotherapy can be more long term, helping clients process deeper issues they may have experienced.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My name is Quentin Shires and I am the founder of The Shires Group. I have studied the area of mental health and have trained at a doctoral level on treating my clients in many different arenas. I am currently completing my dissertation for my PhD in Human Behavior, focusing on research that aims at bringing emotional facial recognition, non-verbal behaviors and the deception of emotions into the therapy arena- increasing treatment responses in mental health clients. I am also a Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern- working towards licensure in the State of Florida. I have had many years of mental health counseling experience- mainly working with individuals that experience Severe and Persistent Mental Health Issues (SPMI). I am well versed in many different theories that help clients move forward in their lives, while creating a safe environment to process past events.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The Shires Group strives to be very client centered and our therapy models the Client Directive Outcome Informed process: allowing the client to take the lead in his or her treatment. The Shires Group believes that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor of a successful therapy and strives to make our clients feel comfortable, safe and valued. You will typically find that our services cost lower than other private agencies in the area, while providing high quality services. Also, The Shires Group comes to your home or other location for no added cost! As long as the location meets criteria for confidentiality, we will meet you there! Some of our past clients have chosen to meet The Shires Group at places such as their homes, the beach, a quiet park and even on a boat!
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Currently The Shires Group is successful in Palm Beach County as well as Sarasota County, Florida. The Shires Group is currently working towards expanding on completing assessments for businesses and corporations and vetting new upper management employees. At this time, The Shires Group will not expand to other areas, as we like to make our client's feel secure; however, we also like to help as many people as we can. If the client's need a particular service, we will aim at providing it!

The Shires Group strongly values your confidentiality and therefore we do not accept any insurance. However, we have made our costs of therapy closely to that of a co-pay. We also offer a sliding scale program to those who may not be able to afford our flat-rate. We accept all forms of payment: Visa/MasterCard, checks and cash.
Which areas do you service?
The Shires Group currently works in both Palm Beach and Sarasota Counties. For clients that have a busier schedule, we also offer video conferencing therapy sessions at a discounted rate.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Quentin Shires is the Founder and Executive Director at The Shires Group and enjoys playing an active part within the company. Most of the time you will find Quentin out in the field, providing therapy to his clients. Max Price is also a member of The Shires Group! Max has many years of counseling experience and heads up The Shires Group's Therapeutic Video Conferencing Department.
